The Royal Bengal Tiger, a symbol of power and mystery, has pervaded every aspect of Indian Culture from 3000 BC to the present. Tiger Raj celebrates the tiger of India and the magnificent wildlife which share its realm.
Artist's Note: From my travels to India and through the Lynn Chase Wildlife Foundation, I learned about the state of the Royal Bengal Tiger, so I decided to create a pattern around him. On the salad plate he is riding on the back of an Asian elephant for that was how he was hunted in the forest of India. Now it is his turn to get a ride. Notice the eyes of the tiger on the dinner plate. His eyes follow you. This is something wonderful that happens when I paint, as it was completely unplanned. All of the species on this collection are indigenous to India. -Lynn Chase
